The Kelpie Dance

Posted by Stewart Bremner on

Since Indy Prints beginning in the heat of the Scottish referendum campaign, we've always tried to celebrate Scotland's culture. We've mostly done that with political art and graphics, however for the first time our artist Stewart has created an undoubtedly Scottish design that is totally apolitical!

Kelpies are shape-shifting water spirits that inhabit Scotland's lochs and rivers. With a nod to Katsushika Hokusai's iconic The Great Wave off Kanagawa, this Kelpie dances in the dark waters of a night-time loch, stirring foamy waves in the highland air.

Not only is this unpolitical, it's also our first print to have no words on it at all! We're planning this as the starting point for a new direction in our Scottish prints, so we really hope you like it.
