What's the alternative?

For our Alternate Scotland range – launching in full today – we're imagining the Scotlands of alternate realities. Some of these imaginings are fanciful, some play with contemporary culture and others hint at deeper societal changes that could have been. Linking them is the idea of 'what if?' What if the Scott Monument was a space rocket? What if sassenachs could travel time through ancient stones? What if the Darien Expedition hadn't failed? These questions and more offer glimpses – through the medium of advertisements – into what the Scotlands of different alternate realities might be.
