Early Days of a Better Nation – 2020 calendar
Keep the flame of independence alive!
Drawn by former Yes Scotland graphic artist Stewart Bremner, this calendar features twelve colourfully-illustrated messages to support the campaign to win Scotland’s independence.
January: It's not about flags, labels or the past. It's about Scotland's future. • February: Trident no more! Austerity no more! Westminster no more! Tories no more! • March: Governments have always tried to crush reform movements, to destroy ideas, to kill the thing that cannot die. Without regard to history, which shows that no Government have ever succeeded in doing this, they go on trying in the old, senseless way. – Emmeline Pankhurst • April: We want decisions affecting our lives to be made on our doorstep by the people who live here • May: Nothing appears more surprising to those, who consider human affairs with a philosophical eye, than the easiness with which the many are governed by the few – David Hume • June: Your civil liberties will be protected by a modern, written constitution in an independent Scotland • July: Scottish independence will allow us to break free from the British ruling classes • August: Scotland's best chance to be free from nuclear weapons is with independence • September: Scotland is one of the wealthiest countries on earth. With independence we can work to make it one of the fairest as well. • October: Independence means a country run for us, not them • November: Land cleared by the rich is not wild, it is hoarded. Ancient, empty farmland is not wild, it is neglected. • December: With independence we can create a compassionate immigration and asylum system.
