Early Days of a Better Nation – 2021 calendar
Supporting independence for Scotland
Quite simply, Scotland should be an independent country. If you too believe that, this is the place for you.
The Politics collection brings together various pro-indy messages and statements. The collection began during the indyref campaign and has grown since.
About this piece
Keep the flame of independence alive!
Drawn by former Yes Scotland graphic artist Stewart Bremner, this calendar features twelve colourfully-illustrated messages to support the campaign to win Scotland’s independence.
January: excerpt from A Parcel o Rogues by Rabbie Burns
February: Let's work together as if we are living in the early days of a better nation
March: Believe in Scotland, believe in yourself – we can create a better future for our country
April: We want a Scotland that cares about others everywhere, as much as it cares about its own
May: Together we can create a fairer Scotland – after we gain independence all our parties will work for Scotland
June: Wherever there is great property there is great inequality. For one very rich man there must be at least five hundred poor and the affluence of the few supposes the indigence of the many. – Adam Smith
July: Big enough, rich enough, smart enough
August: We want a world free from weapons of mass destruction – bairns not bombs
November: Be the Scotland you wish to see, be the candle, not the darkness – Pat Kane
December: the future is independence.
Taking inspiration from art and design of the twentieth century, this drawing combines a bold pro-indy message with a familiar and historied style to quietly reassurance the viewer.
