Clare Grogan on Stewart dress weathered tartan – magnet
Famous faces, famous fabrics
For just a wee country, Scots have been making waves on the world scene for quite a while. From actors to musicians, writers and more, Scotland has more than it's fair share of famous faces.
The tartan
The Icons collection pairs some of Scotland's most famous faces with one of their striking clan tartans.
Who am I?
Clare Grogan came to prominence as the singer of Altered Images, who had a number two hit with ‘Happy Birthday’ in 1981. She is also known for her acting, most famously in Gregroy’s Girl, also in 1981.>/p>
Clare is shown on Stewart dress weathered tartan. As one of the royal Stewart tartans, this is as a ‘universal’ tartan which can be worn by anyone without clan affiliations.
The artwork
This bold, hand-drawn portrait captures essence of the subject with a flourish. It contrasts with the meticulously recreated geometry of the tartan pattern, whose colour is used throughout the piece.
