Alex Harvey on Keith ancient tartan – small mounted print
Famous faces, famous fabrics
For just a wee country, Scots have been making waves on the world scene for quite a while. From actors to musicians, writers and more, Scotland has more than it's fair share of famous faces.
The Icons collection pairs some of Scotland's most famous faces with one of their striking clan tartans.
Who am I?
Alex Harvey was the singer and leader of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, probably the most important Scottish band of the seventies. While Harvey’s career stretched back to the fifties, he did not rise to popularity until recording a string of hard rocking albums with SAHB, notably Next in 1973.
Alex is shown on Keith ancient tartan. Harvey is a recognised sept, or subdivision, of the Clan Keith.
This bold, hand-drawn portrait captures essence of the subject with a flourish. It contrasts with the meticulously recreated geometry of the tartan pattern, whose colour is used throughout the piece.
