Bananae boat – poster
“D’ye think a came up the Clyde in a bananae boat?” Darien Bananas didn’t but their adaptation of the saying was one of the most memorable ad campaigns of the 1930s. Named after the Company of Scotland’s successful Darien Scheme, Darien Fruit – as it is now called – is our biggest importer of overseas fruit and vegetables.
