Iain M Banks on Menzies tartan – poster
Famous faces, famous fabrics
For just a wee country, Scots have been making waves on the world scene for quite a while. From actors to musicians, writers and more, Scotland has more than it's fair share of famous faces.
The tartan
The Icons collection pairs some of Scotland's most famous faces with one of their striking clan tartans.
Who am I?
Iain M Banks was one of Scotland’s leading authors from the mid eighties until his early death in 2013. He was known for writing both mainstream and science fiction. His Culture series centres on a far future socialist utopia.
Iain is shown on Menzies tartan, Menzies being his middle name.
The artwork
This bold, hand-drawn portrait captures essence of the subject with a flourish. It contrasts with the meticulously recreated geometry of the tartan pattern, whose colour is used throughout the piece.
