Karen Gillan on Chattan ancient tartan – small mounted print
Famous faces, famous fabrics
For just a wee country, Scots have been making waves on the world scene for quite a while. From actors to musicians, writers and more, Scotland has more than it's fair share of famous faces.
The Icons collection pairs some of Scotland's most famous faces with one of their striking clan tartans.
Who am I?
Karen Gillan is an actor who first found fame as the companion of the eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who. She has since become internationally recognised for her part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Jumanji film series.
Karen is shown on Chattan ancient tartan. Gillan is an informal sept, or subdivision, of the Clan Chattan.
This bold, hand-drawn portrait captures essence of the subject with a flourish. It contrasts with the meticulously recreated geometry of the tartan pattern, whose colour is used throughout the piece.
