It's a long path to the Old Man of Meh – poster
Is Scotland overrated or just misunderstood?
If we could “see oorsels as ithers see us” what would we see? Well, thanks to the wonders of the interwebs we can and apparently some of Scotland’s loveliest places… kinda suck.
Hilariously bad reviews
It seems some of the visitors to our shores have misunderstood what they came to see and then they've written a review to prove it. The Overrated Scotland collection features some choice quotes from those reviews, paired with the gorgeous locations they describe. Sometimes the truth is hilarious.
About this location
“It was a very long and rocky path. Meh.”The Old Man of Hoy is a 137m tall sea stack on the island of Hoy in the Orkney archipelago. A popular climb that was first scaled in 1966, the stack is thought to have been formed some time after 1750.
The drawing takes inspiration from vintage travel posters, particularly ones created during the inter-war period. The overlaid text is a wide-spaced sans-serif typeface that has a definite London Underground map feeling to it. The original drawing can be found in the Landscapes collection.
