Is Scotland overrated or just misunderstood?

If we could “see oorsels as ithers see us” what would we see? Well, thanks to the wonders of the interwebs we can and apparently some of Scotland’s loveliest places… kinda suck.

Hilariously bad reviews

It seems some of the visitors to our shores have misunderstood what they came to see and then they've written a review to prove it. The Overrated Scotland collection features some choice quotes from those reviews, paired with the gorgeous locations they describe. Sometimes the truth is hilarious.

About this location

“The new bridge looks okay from afar, but is nothing special and gets lost in the clutter of the other bridges.”

The Forth’s three great bridges, as seen from Port Edgar. Oldest of the three, the world-famous Forth Bridge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It opened in 1890 and is still being used or its original purpose as a rail bridge. The same cannot be said for the Forth Road Bridge, most of whose traffic now travels on the 2017 Queensferry Crossing.

The artwork

The drawing takes inspiration from vintage travel posters, particularly ones created during the inter-war period. The overlaid text is a wide-spaced sans-serif typeface that has a definite London Underground map feeling to it. The original drawing can be found in the Landscapes collection.
