The University of Glasgow is run down – poster
Is Scotland overrated or just misunderstood?
If we could “see oorsels as ithers see us” what would we see? Well, thanks to the wonders of the interwebs we can and apparently some of Scotland’s loveliest places… kinda suck.
Hilariously bad reviews
It seems some of the visitors to our shores have misunderstood what they came to see and then they've written a review to prove it. The Overrated Scotland collection features some choice quotes from those reviews, paired with the gorgeous locations they describe. Sometimes the truth is hilarious.
About this location
"The building is old and run down, and the teaching quality is very poor."The University of Glasgow was founded in 1451 and is the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world. The Gilmorehill campus tower is seen here from Kelvingrove Park.
The artwork
The drawing takes inspiration from vintage travel posters, particularly ones created during the inter-war period. The overlaid text is a wide-spaced sans-serif typeface that has a definite London Underground map feeling to it. The original drawing can be found in the Landscapes collection.
